Man Builds Amazing Outdoor House For His Cats: DIY Project

We here at ICanHasCheezburger love and appreciate creativity in all its forms, but especially when it is harnessed towards a pet themed project. This Imgur user's three cats (all foster fails) were in for a treat this holiday season, when their proud guardian decided to add a new addition to his house. Made entirely with love, this 'catio' is spacious, stylish, and offers the cats various methods of entertainment.

We love the effective use of space and style that this DIY project added to the home. We may or may not have been inspired to take on a little DIY project ourselves! As you can see, the cats are in love with their new 'catio' and use it especially for parkour training. They have easy access to it via window from inside of the house. We are about it.

"I started off measuring the distance between ground and our roof overhang, above our guest room window. Built a frame going 8' wide to simplify the build and give that cats a ton of room. 6' long x 8' Wide."

"I wanted a really clean look where the metal wire connected to the framing so I decided to rip lines with my small circular saw so I could slide the wire in and nail closed to pinch the metal tight. This took forever and was a pain in the ass, I purchased a larger circular saw after this project that would have helped. Idea worked great and is extremely sturdy."

"Used a weather protectant stain to help add to the longevity. Used untreated boards because we built this in the height of the lumber price hike."

"At this point I had it figured out and was able to get the side walls together much quicker. I cut a little nose on each of the side walls to give it a little more style points, just used a jig saw and freehanded the first then traced the second."

"Took some time and a support 2x4 attached to the tree branch + extra bracing but the big chill platform is up and secure."

"Here they are watching chickens and chilling. they use this thing 24/7 and still during the winter. Used a simple doggy door and wood to close the window on it for their entry."
